Limerick & North Dublin: Upcoming in-person advance planning events with the DSS

The Decision Support Service will host two advance planning events, one in Limerick on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 September 2026, and another in North Dublin on Tuesday 10 November 2026 and Wednesday 11 November. 

The in-person events are designed to support people to plan ahead. They will focus on the practical steps required to create an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA), and include one-to-one sessions with staff from the Decision Support Service (DSS).

Each event is split over two days, starting with a public information evening and followed by one-to-one EPA Helpdesk sessions where attendees can work through the EPA process with a DSS staff member.

Public information evenings 

Information evenings with the Director of the Decision Support Service (DSS), Áine Flynn.

Áine will introduce: 

• The key reforms under the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 
• the guiding principles 
• the new support framework, and
• the tools for advance planning
• the functions of the DSS.

One-to-one EPA Helpdesks

We then invite members of the public to meet us on a one-to-one basis to start their own Enduring Power of Attorney application. This is a practical walk-through session, where each person can book their own appointment and bring their own documentation.

What you need to bring

The DSS team will be on hand to show you how to register online and start your own EPA application.

If you have a verified MyGovID account you can create and verify your MyDSS account before attending your one-to-one EPA appointment, please see the below video on how to create and verify a MyDSS account.

Alternatively, if you do not have a verified MyGovID account, please complete our manual ID verification form through the ID verification form on our website before attending your appointment, you will need; 

• One photo ID (current and in date)    
• Two proofs of address (dated within the last six months)
